  Technology, bad for music appreciation?
Music downloading creates listener apathy (BreitBart.com)

I would like to agree with certain points of this article, as the devaluation of music does correspond to similar historical events (books, artwork, drama). However, there just aren't enough facts gathered here to assert the viewpoint that "our relationship to music in everyday life may well be complex and sophisticated, but it is not necessarily characterised by deep emotional investment". This article is a perfect example of how not to conduct journalism--one side and one source.

For a more pertinent piece of news try: Magnatune Reaches Out to Commercial Podcasters (emediawire.com)

The music isn't dead, it's simply reaching a broader audience. As long as some consumers are willing to be selective, culture will thrive. The transition from live performance to instant playback has been an interesting road, but certainly not the spontaneous shift it is often made out to be. (see Wikipedia for more)
